If you’ve been holding your breath waiting for the release of Star Trek: Picard on Blu-ray and DVD, well, now you can let out a sigh of relief, because the day is almost here. S

tarTrek.com announced last week that the Sir Patrick Stewart-led series will be hitting home video on October 6th.

The first series of Star Trek: Picard will be available on DVD, standard Blu-ray, or Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray.
Each edition will include all 10 episodes of Picard, plus the prequel Star Trek: Short Treks episode “Children of Mars”.

In addition to the main show and Short Treks episode, the Blu-ray and DVD editions will also come with a number of special features, including behind-the-scenes featurettes, interviews and commentaries. There are even exclusive deleted scenes and a gag reel.

You can pre-order the first season of Star Trek: Picard on Blu-ray or DVD from Amazon now, or set a reminder for October 6th, and pick it up wherever you get your Blu-rays.

Star Trek earns 6 Emmy nominations: 5 for Picard and 1 for Short Treks
by Chris Peterson
emmys.jpg
The Star Trek franchise has earned six 2020 Emmy nominations

Star Trek is on the Emmys shortlist.

Yesterday, the Television Academy announced the nominations for the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards, revealing 6 nominations for the Star Trek franchise.
Five of those nominations are for the crew of Star Trek: Picard with the sixth belonging to Star Trek: Short Treks.

In May of this year, TrekMovie.com reported that CBS began promoting the two Star Trek series with emphasis in securing a nomination for Sir Patrick Stewart as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. While Stewart wasn’t nominated for the Emmy, the creative staff of Star Trek: Picard will be getting plenty of attention with their five nominations in the following categories.

First up are the nominations for Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling and Outstanding Period and/or Character (non-prosthetic) Makeup.
Both nominations are for the Picard episode “Stardust City Rag”.

The third nomination is for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie or Special for the episode “Absolute Candor”.

The remaining two nominations are both for the Star Trek: Picard finale “Et in Arcadia Ego: Part 2”. Those are in the categories of Outstanding Sound Mixing and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series.

The five nominations for Star Trek: Picard are the most any Star Trek property has seen in a single year since the final season of Star Trek: Voyager, which saw eight nominations in 2001. It also means that Picard steps up as the most successful Star Trek series to date for CBS All Access in terms of single-year Emmy nominations, pulling in one more than Star Trek: Discovery did in 2018.

The final Star Trek Emmy nomination this year is for Star Trek: Short Treks. That series earned itself the Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. The Short Treks nomination plus the other five for Picard means the franchise is in great standing for this year’s ceremony. The 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmell and are currently scheduled to air September 20th on ABC.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 - What We Know, Predictions, And Theories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3IJes-97sE

Season 2 has been confirmed for Star Trek: Picard. Here's what we know, the biggest questions, our top theories, and predictions for the second season.

Season 2 has been officially confirmed. Star Trek: Picard was renewed for a second season before the first season even premiered.
During his promotional tour for Picard, Patrick Stewart visited The View and invited View co-host Whoopi Goldberg to be part of Season 2.
Goldberg played Guinan on The Next Generation. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) will be back, and another Star Trek: Voyager actor may make an appearance.

We have some big questions left over from Picard Season 1 going into the new season - Will other TNG characters appear?
Will the show link to Star Trek Discovery? Will Lore return? Where is Narek? What will happen to the XB's and the Artifact Borg cube?
In the video above, Greg and Chastity provide their theories and predictions.

Star Trek: Picard --- Produktion für Staffel 2 startet im Februar 2021

JANUARY 11, 2021 - In case you missed it: Jeri Ryan has said on Twitter that the start of filming for Star Trek: Picard season two has been pushed back to February 1st.

Absent an official announcement from CBS All Access, Star Trek fans have been left largely to depend on Picard’s stars and staff to tell us when the new season would start filming.
Production was hampered by COVID-19 restrictions that started last spring, and in June, producer Akiva Goldsman said that it was giving writers more time to perfect their scripts.

In September, director Jonathan Frakes said that filming would start in January of 2021, something later echoed by Michelle Hurd (last October) and Evan Evagora (last November).
Now, in a reply to one fan asking about the production timeline, Ryan is the latest star to chime in with details.

Just before Christmas, Ryan tweeted that for the first time ever, she’d be spending Christmas Day at home with just her immediate family.
When a fan asked, “Is Picard still on track to begin production on season 2 in January, or has that been pushed back?”, Ryan replied, “Pushed to Feb. 1 now”.

A delay in filming would be understandable, since Star Trek: Picard films in California, which is currently in the grips of the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While filming is still permitted with modifications, it’s hardly business as usual. It also bears repeating that CBS All Access have not officially announced plans.

It’s also worth mentioning that Star Trek: Picard season two isn’t the only Star Trek series in production: Discovery season four started filming in Toronto in November, Strange New Worlds is due to start in Toronto as well in February, and Lower Decks and Prodigy are both in progress as we speak.

patrick-stewart-covid-19-vaccine.png
Stewart’s vaccination comes just over a week before the start of filming of Star Trek: Picard season two, which is expected to begin in California on February 1st.

While film and television production in the state are allowed to proceed with modifications, California is still one of the nation’s worst COVID-19 hotspots, and at 80 years old, Stewart is in one of the most vulnerable groups for complications from the virus.

Both versions of the COVID-19 vaccine currently being given in California require a booster, so Stewart is likely to have another jab in a few weeks.

Q is back! :icon_salut:
John de Lancie and Sir Patrick Stewart announce the return of the iconic character in Star Trek: Picard season 2

by Chris Peterson

APRIL 5, 2021 - During the First Contact Day opening panel, Sir Patrick Stewart announced that production on season two of Star Trek: Picard was officially underway with lights, cameras, and everything else that goes with it.

For Picard fans, that confirmation is a sign of good things to come, but that wasn’t the only good news.
Stewart and panel co-host Wil Wheaton were joined by actor John de Lancie in making the official announcement that de Lancie’s Star Trek: The Next Generation character Q would return to screens in the upcoming season of Picard.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B20sCtCSPFc

The omnipotent but often devious “Q” was a constant thorn in the side of 24th century Starfleet, always showing up at the worst time to make trouble for the crews of the starship Voyager, Deep Space Nine and, most notably, the Enterprise-D. After more than 20 years, it seems Q is finally making good on his promise to Captain Picard that the “trial” against humanity isn’t over yet.

That’s right.

Q is back.

It isn’t a complete surprise that de Lancie is making an appearance on Picard. Shortly after lending his voice as Q to the Star Trek: Lower Decks episode “Veritas”, de Lancie was seen in a Cameo video, telling a fan, “You’ll be seeing more of me”. And soon, we shall.

During the panel discussion, de Lancie told viewers that he is “totally delighted and really looking forward to” coming back to Star Trek. “It’s been a long time coming and I’m more than ready,” he said. For de Lancie, getting back into character after such a long time really wasn’t that hard to do. “It’s not actually very difficult,” de Lancie said of the process, adding, “[Q is] deliciously naughty, marvelously annoying, terribly self involved. I dare say, as my wife does, it’s not much of a stretch,” he added with a laugh.

But how will Q find himself in Picard’s life once again? Stewart and de Lancie were tight lipped on the details, but Stewart teased fans on Q’s return in season two, saying, “Q’s arrival was utterly unexpected, and it comes at a shattering moment in the episode.”

On returning to the set to film season two, Stewart was over the top in his excitement, saying “There is extra joy that we are back again in a fully active, fully healthy shooting situation [...] There are events coming up in season two that have never been seen before. And I’m excited just at the thought of putting it on camera. It is - so far - very, very satisfying.”
